Incorrigible Ed: The Missing Chapter
If you want to read a fairy tale a con man wrote about himself then by all means read this book. But don't believe it.

Ed Beckley was released from a California prison in January of 2000. He returned to Fairfield, Iowa to live in a home next to mine where he began shamelessly pursuing a romantic involvement with my wife.

Ed lured her away from her family with promises of exotic travel, fame, and soon to be acquired wealth. He promised to take care of this married woman regardless of whether he was to marry her or not. He spent the next 18 months 'counseling' my wife through her separation and divorce (something Ed has plenty of expertise with giving his two previously failed marriages resulting from his infidelities). He also used her to help him develop his seminars during this time rather than allow her to begin developing a career for herself.

Today, Ed teaches seminars and promotes this book, inferring his nearness to "enlightenment". He never lived up to the promises he made to my now ex-wife (Ed's now ex-girl friend). Instead of receiving support from Ed as he promised, she is studying to be a massage therapist so as to support herself. Just another broken promise from a man who has learned far too little from his egregious mistakes.

You'll find no accounting of this in Ed's book; this is a chapter I'm sure he finds rather incongrous with the supposedly heartfelt learned lessons mastered while in prison.

Many people have an ax to grind with Mr. Beckley, because he has a long history of being a fairly reprehensible human being. (Why else did he end up a felon in prison).

Liberation through Parole
... I read this book to learn Ed Beckley's side of the story about his criminal conviction and what insights he might have gained from the experience. Some years ago, this author was using television "infomercials" to sell his get-rich-quick schemes with a money-back-guarantee. Beckley collected millions of dollars from people who later realized they had been cheated. When the customers demanded their money back, Ed neglected to honor his guarantee and was subsequently convicted of fraud. While there were a few enjoyable moments, I found the authors story of his quest for spiritual insight trite. I wonder if his interest in "enlightenment" is motivated by a desire to gain a competitive advantage or a piece of knowledge that he might exploit for material gain.
I had hoped to read of the enduring wisdom the author might have gained upon coming to realize that it was corrupt to attain wealth through dishonorable means. ... I suspect this book may be Beckley's effort to build a base from which he can launch his next scheme.

Great book
A wonderful autobiographical account of a life filled with great spiritual insights.

It sounds like the first reviewer (Liberation through parole) has some personal axe to grind against the author. I found the book to be brutally honest when it came to the mistakes the author made during his life.

Kahuna Power: Authentic Chants, Prayers & Legends of the Mystical Hawaiians

DON'T BOTHER WITH "KAHUNA POWER"
KAHUNA POWER REVIEW BY BECKLEY: THIS BOOK IS LACKING WITH NEW INFORMATION. EVEN THE PROMISED CHANTS (FROM TITLE) ARE VERY MINIMAL. I EXPECTED TO READ ANCIENT HAWAIIAN CHANTS AND FIND INSIGHT INTO HAWAIIAN BELIEFS. INSTEAD, I READ A POOR OVERVIEW OF MAX FREEDOM LONG AND BRAD STEIGER (KAHUNA MAGIC) AND NOT MUCH ELSE. THE BOOK ADMITS IT IS NOT AN ACADEMIC REFERENCE BUT EVEN THE FEW CHANTS IN THE BOOK ARE WITHOUT REFERENCES. IF YOU READ BRAD STEIGER'S KAHUNA MAGIC, PASS ON KAHUNA POWER. SINCE THE PERSONAL TESTIMONIES OF WITNESSING SPIRITS WAS INTERESTING, I GAVE 1 STAR.

Here I go again. ;-(
I have been interested in HUNA for many years. and bought this book in hopes of expanding my HUNA knowledge. I didn;t find it here. ;-(

Page 13. "They were very religious and worshiped the elements" (I have taken the HUNA course from HRI (HUNA Research Inc.) and read every HUNA related book I could lay my hands on.) The Hawaiians knew of a creator but considered anything above the Akua (gods and godesses) to be beyond comprehension. Most hawaiians only went to their Aumakua or po'e Aumakua for assistance The Akua were only called on in times of extreme emergency.

Page 15. "The Real authority on the kahuna is Max Freedom Long, a scientist and archaeologist." I have read almost every book Max Freedom Long wrote "Recovering The Ancient Magic", "The Secret Science Behind Miracles", "The Secret Science At Work", "What Jesus Taught In Secret", Growing Into Light", "Mana", The Huna Code In Religions", and can speak to what I read in those volumes. "Max Freedom Long went to the Hawaiian Islands in 1917 to teach school. Later; Max ran a camera store in Honolulu, and nearly lost his business in the 30s during the great depression. It is true that Max was a tireless researcher and spemt 52 years trying to reclaim what the Hawaiian kahunas did; but that does not qualify him as a scientist and archaeologist. Max was a ha'ole, and the hawaiians would not tell him their secrets. He gathered what he knew of the HUNA system by taking the chants apart to understand the root meanings of the words in the chants and prayers.

Max had been raised "christian" and in a few places he made errors in logic. Especially in Max's statememts that Jesus was an initiated Kahuna. and the HUNA knowledge goes from Hawaii, to Israel, to Egypt, and back to Lemuria before that.

Page 22. "The natives began stealing from Cook's stores, little things at first and then more and more until the items stolen represented quite an enormous loss." I find this offensive. People that would steal are spiritually sick, and the Hawaiians were anything BUT spiritually sick. They were able to modify the weather. walk on red hot lava without being burned, and heal all sorts of health problems.

Page 25-26. "I have had the great fortune to know one of the greatest authorities of all the mystery of the kahuna. His name is Brad Steiger". I also know Brad Steiger, and have read his book "Kahuna Magic" about HUNA. From what I have been able to learn, His HUNA knowledge came about through a friendship with Max Freedom Long, and Mr. Steiger's HUNA material suffers from the same flaws that Max introduced.

Page 30. "The Aumakua is called the high self, and is actuallt the highest god the kahuna dealt with." Page 52. "The almighty Keaue is the supreme being. Spirit energy flows from his temple of the sun in the blue mists of heaven." Am I the only one to see this contradiction? The Kahunas generaly worked with the Aumakua, the Po'e Aumakua, and the Akua (gods and godesses like Kane, Kanaloa, Hina, Pele, etc. and thought anything above the Akua to be beyond human comprehension.

Page 53. "The Rising Sun is Ku, the setting Sun is Hina". Ku amd Hina are two of the Akua acknowledged by hawaiians; but Hina was the goddess of the moon.

I would recommend that you allow this book to collect dust.

Count Saint Germain:The New Age Prophet Who Lives Forever
Published in Paperback by Inner Light Publications (30 March, 2002)
Authors: Tim Beckley, Timothy Green Beckley, and William Alexaner Oribello
Average review score:

Good Subject, Crummy Book
Count Saint Germain seems to have been a truly interesting and mysterious person who deserves a good, honest, thoroughly researched biography. This book is none of those things. In the blurb above this review you will see that they are using the 'gold and violet' cover as a selling point, which I find humorously--almost touchingly--simpleminded. There are spelling mistakes and errors of fact (such as wrong dates) all over the place, and the authors refuse to look at any story concerning Saint Germain with the least bit of scepticism. Thus we are told that Francis Bacon and Christopher Columbus were actually Saint Germain, and that as, Sir Francis Bacon, Saint Germain wrote all of Shakespeare's plays. The silliness never stops! Then we are told that the secret of immortality lies in starving yourself for forty days, after which your hair and teeth will fall out; a few hours later they will grow back, and after that you'll be immortal. (Don't try this at home, kids!) So I'm afraid I cannot recommend this book. The one star is for the gold and violet cover, which is mighty purty.
